CRASS - WALLS, 1980
They said that we were trash. But the name’s Crass not Clash!
Speaking of anarchist punk, these guys basically started it. “Walls”, however, is an anomaly from their double LP album Stations Of The Crass from 1980. Departing from their hardcore punk image, the track is more indicative of their experimental art punk tendencies, with beautifully arpeggiated vocals from group member Joy De Vivre, use of sound collage and a subtle four-four beat throughout sounding more like something between Vivien Goldman and no wave disco.
