NEW MUSIK - WARP, 1982
New Musik were a synth pop band that formed in 1977 in London. They managed a few UK hit singles and some successful tours from their first two albums, yet after a few years of disappointing commercial performances and an absence of US interest, the band’s line up began to fall apart. With a hired drummer, New Musik’s original two members released their third and most experimental album Warp in 1982 before calling it quits. It was almost entirely electronic and one of the first albums to be recorded primarily with digital samplers and emulators, creating an amazing album full of icy synths, mechanical percussion, and robotic vocals.
