DEE D. JACKSON - AUTOMATIC LOVER, 1978
Dee D. Jackson started her career in Germany producing science fiction short films and working in music with Giorgio Moroder and Keith Forsey and released Automatic Lover in ‘78. It was her biggest hit and was instantly covered by Sugar Hill Records founder Sylvia Robison the same year. The Sylvia version is nearly an exact copy of the original, including the hilarious un-syncopated robot, but was released on Vibration Records. The Vibrators were an early punk rock band from England and completely unrelated but their single “Automatic Lover”, also released in ‘78, was the Vibrators’ only single to reach the UK Top 40 and earned them a spot on Top Of The Pops.
