• JEAN-MICHEL JARRE - ZOOLOOKOLOGIE, 1984

French composer and electronic music pioneer largely influenced by elements of musique concrete during his time as a student of Pierre Schaeffer. His seventh album Zoolook makes extensive use of the sampling capabilities of the Fairlight CMI, featuring samples of words and speech from over thirty different languages including Aboriginal, Afghan, Arabic, Balinese, Buhndi, Chinese, Dutch, English, Eskimo, French, German, Hungarian, Indian, Japanese, Malagasy, Malayan, Pygmy, Polish, Quechua, Russian , Sioux, Spanish, Swedish, Tibetan, and Turkish. In 1983 he created the album Musique pour Supermarché (Music for Supermarkets), which had a print run of just one copy. Despite claiming to have destroyed all master recordings of the album, several of those pieces were reworked into Zoolook in almost identical form.
