PROPAGANDA - DR. MABUSE, 1985
Propaganda are like a twisted ABBA from hell. After being signed by journalist Paul Morley to Trevor Horn’s ZTT Records, home of electro group Art Of Noise, Propaganda released their first single “Dr. Mabuse” in 1984, named after the character made famous by film maker Fritz Lang. Photographer Anton Corbin, who recently directed the superb Ian Curtis biopic Control, is credited for the artwork on the album and directed the music video as well, which shares a similar aesthetic to his haunting video of Joy Division’s “Atmosphere” from 1988.
